Range of Motion (Hand Postures)

1. Fingers:

  • 1.1 Full Extension: Abduction, Extension, Thumb
  • 1.2 Fist: Ignores the thumb
  • 1.3 Claw: DIP joint (last joint) — only for DIP, ignores thumb

2. Thumb:

  • 2.1 Flexion @ MCP, IP: Thumb to pinky (Palmer/Opposition)
  • 2.2 Abduct: Away from hand (Oblique)
  • 2.3 Circumduction: Make a circle (Palmer)
  • * Change position between step 1 & 2

User Steps (1° DHA-ROM Assessment)

Phase 1: Digits Hand Assessment (Fingers + Thumb)

  • Step 1: Open hand wide (1.1), rotate 90°, open wide
  • Step 2: Make a fist, rotate 90°, open, make a fist
  • Step 3: Bend fingers keeping thumb still, turn 90° into claw
  • Step 4: Perform thumb movements 1, 2, 3

* User instruction flow: Do facing camera → Turn 90° to camera

Extended Joints (Phase 2+)

Digits Wrist Assessment (DWA):

  • 1. Rest elbow on table (stable surface)

3. Wrist Movements:

  • Flexion / Extension (Needs 2nd MediaPipe model in elbow)
  • Ulnar deviation (towards small finger)
  • Radial deviation (away from small finger)
  • Pronation (palm down)
  • Supination (palm up)

4/6. Elbow: Flexion 6.1, Extension 6.2

5/7. Shoulder: Same as thumb (7.1, 7.2, 7.3, 7.4)
